First post with a question

So here is my FIRST official post to :hail: Third Generation F-Bodies :hail:
HELLO everybody!! New member here. Alittle about my self. I own a 92 Firebird T-tops came with the ever so powerful 305 TBI. I am by no means a mechanic but I do know the basics about a car. I may however use the intelligents of other members from time to time to answer some tech questions. But I will use the search feature first so as not to make any duplicat posts I am into a new project with my car putting a LT1 into it taking out the 305 TBI. Have some questions about that But I will try to do a search for the answers about the LT1 swap.
So here is my first OFFICIAL question:
When I first start the car everything works. Then about 60 seconds later I hear what sounds to be a fuse blowing. When this happens my power windows and my radio stop working. I shut the car off for awhile and then get back in, start it up same thing 60 seconds later my radio goes out and my windows dont work. As far as I can tell it only affects these two things oh yeah and my dome light doesnt work. But everything else is OK. Any ideas? After this happens I check the fuses under the dash and everything checks out OK.
Thanks for allowing me to be a member to this forum, Jeff

Check your fusible links, and start looking for shorts. These are lots of fun, but if you get frustrated there's tools that'll help you find/trace shorts under paneling one circuit at a time.

What year LT1 are you installing?

Thanks for the warm welcome. The LT1 came out of a 95 Firebird. Came with all the bolt on accesories. wiring harness and ECM. The motor is in the car I just have to figure out the wiring for the harness. But the question I had happened before I even started the swap so that isnt the prob.
thanx again for the welocome Its a pleasure to be here

Yes welcome to the boards. This my be a shot in the dark, but worth a try. Disconnect your cigarette lighter and replace the blwon fuse. try to start the car again. Cigarette lighters are a common fault to a shorting accesory fuse. Worth a shot anyway. If not, like Jza said "These are lots of fun, but if you get frustrated there's tools that'll help you find/trace shorts under paneling one circuit at a time." The fun begins!

DOH! I just re read your post. So no blown fuses eh? HMM.. and you here a clicking sound... Very interesting. I will see what I can find.

Again Welcome
Keiran
