Brake light problem, help!!

Okay guys my brake lights aren't shutting off all the time, sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. When I leave the car alone for a couple hours they will come on by themselves and drain the battery. It's really starting to get on my nerves. Has anybody had this problem before? Anybody know what to check? All help appreciated, thanks.

BTW it's a 1990 Pontiac Firebird w/auto trans

all these years I've worked on F bodies I never even knew they had an adjustment on the brake switch (of course I've never had to work on one either) but that does make sense. Tell me, how does it work?
