Power Seat Wiring (Pics inside)
Ok guys, I have searched and have only come up with some vague references to the wiring of both power seats.
Here's how it goes, and I have some pics to better illustrate what I need.
These seats are a '97 Trans Am, most seats should be the same. I need to know what every wire does, and where I need to hook it up in order to make the seats work properly.

Passanger Side Seat:
This seat has the Air Pump, there are 6 wires.
Orange: hot
Black: ground
Purple: ??
Grey: ??
White: ??
Brown: ??
I have made the seat work by just hooking up the Hot and ground. Thats fine and dandy for the passanger seat.

Drivers Seat:
This seat does not have the air pump and there is only 5 wires. The Black wire is missing
Orange: Hot? Do I hook this wire to a power source?
Purple: ??
Grey: ??
White: ??
Brown: ??
Do the other wires hook up to thier respective places on the Passanger seat?

Now, how do I hook up the air pump hoses? It looks as if they don't even go together. The Driver's side hose goes out towards the drivers side door instead of out towards the passanger seat where the air pump is. Do these hoses hook together? And if they do, how?

Finally, what is this mystery lever on the Driver's seat? I have no clue what it does.

Thankyou For Suffering through my post. I hope this will help other people as well as me.

ok very nice post, unfortaully i have no clue, on all 3 of your guestions,
, my 4th gen seats came out of a 95 96 firehawk, and the are lumbar, but they in no way shape of form look like yours, here is a diagram that shows what mine looked like, and how i hooked mine up, but from your post you allready know how to hook it up, just a picture to show you what mine looked like, ,
and as far as the lever, that is wild , never have see that either, maybe its a relase for the lumbar air, to totall release all the pressure in the seat air bags, ?

No, I don't already know how to hook them up
I am assuming that I have to hook the colors together between the seats, but thats only a guess. Not even an educated guess at that.
The Orange on the drivers seat I believe I have to hook up to a hot power source.
As far as the AIR tubes, I have no clue.

oh
yeah the orange is your hot wire, and ground is usally black, on my seats i hooked up the black to ground and orange to power, air pump works fine, and on the air hose i just connected it together, i had only one air hose, not two ? ,, im not sure, but some of the wires you have on your seats, such as the grey and so on, some are probally for the seatbelt, , to where in a wreck, and the seat moves, it makes the seatbelt grab, allso your seatbelt sensor, to say they are fastend, or lacthed, i could be wrong, way wrong, just a guess, , sorry im not much help,

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help either but, I can tell you that the lever lets the (entire) seat tilt back... sort of like a rocking chair with a e-brake I guess
As far as your wiring, are there switches on the seats that the wires are comming from ? Or a diverter valve in/on the air pump ?
Knowing me, I'd have just ripped everything apart to see just exactly how it works.. back together would be a different story though

I believe if you just hook the orange (hot) wire to a 12 volt source, and ground the black wire somewhere under the passenger seat, all you have to do is run wires to connect the four wires in the wiring harnesses, and both seats should work. I think that's how my 94 TA's seats worked. When they were in the cars, those wiring harnesses plugged into harnesses under each seats, and the wires connecting the two were run under the carpet.
Oh, and that lever in the front is either the one to rock the entire seat forward or back, or it's the one that moves the little front part of the seat where your legs are up and down; I can't remember, but either way, it should have both features.

dunno if this helps but
my 95 Z28 seats came with just the connector coming from out the driver seat... my original seats weren't power... so what i did was run a wire from the utilities fuse and shoved it in one hole of the connector (or that plug, whatever u wanna call it)... then i took a black wire, wrapped it around a nut on my seat, and shoved it into the other hole of the plug...
my seats aren't power lumber, but that's all i know!

your missing the wire harness that connects pass seat to driver.also missing are the hoses that do the same for the air.all you have to do is match the colors for the wires & use 1/4 hose w/some 1/4 plastic coupler to connect hoses & run wires/hoses from passenger to driver side, make sure hoses are not crossed(that is one is for the 2 side lumbars & other is for the back support). That flat paddle like lever pivots the front on your seat up/down(hard to use without mounting seat though).the two big wires are your pos/neg.I have the same year seats in 84Z.did the same thing with mine.Only i wired positive wire to empty recepticle in fuse box & used a 20amp fuse.
just go to gm and buy the harness that joins the two seats to gether you also need the the air hoses that join the seats to gether just put my 2000 bird seats in and it was a snap but you need the harness lines for both first and it's easy , orange is pos black is neg.

Attn. Markus9 or anyone who knows: I have 84Z28 with no power seats. I have now bought both power seats from a 99Transam. Will any 4th gen seat wiring harness work and will I need two harnesses or one and something to connect the two. The new seats have power everything. Thanks for any info.

ATTN:YANKEECARMAN.the harness for the seat tracks is seperate from the harness for the power lumbar. So if you have both(power seat trk/power lumbar) you will need 2 different harnesses.Although the harnesses for both sides are intergrated, that is 1 harness for both pass/Dr lumbar switches & likewise for seat tracks. My 84z28 has a factory power Dr seat only,no lumbar.I now have 97 T/A seats w/power lumbar, but still have my power dr seat. The harness for the seat track(84z) is seperate from the harness for the power lumbar(97t/a).Your better off using the harness from the T/A.will be much easier install, basically you will have your pos/neg to hook up only.

this is what i did , i cut the connecter off my 88 power seat and crimped it to the 99 ta driver side where you will find the orange [pos] and black [neg] that way when i bolted the seat down it will plug into my original plug from my 88 and the air lines for the lumbar and bolster are just taped to the wire harness that join the two seats if you or any one else is going to install the newer ta seats you must have that harness and you will see how easy it really is!

this is what that does
that little paddle on the rhs of the driver's seat, on the '97 camaro seats i swapped in, is a seat tilt adjustment... tilts the back and seat as a unit. the range of adjustment in mine is ideal at all the way back to 'feels like i'm gonna slip off the front' at the other extreme. of course, i'm 6'3'. ymmv
