plug for what?

i just got an 86 Z28 and i have a question.
Below the steering wheel on the right side there is a cut out in the panel. Behind the cutout there is a the female end of a plug.
I am just wondering what this is?

I'm guessing the aldl port (assembly line diagnostic link). At one point there was a little cover for it but i have yet to come across one. That's where you can pull codes if you get an ses light.

you can check eBaymotors.com, every once in a while they'll have the cover listed.
