Alternator wiring

I am finishing up my Haltech E6K install and working out bugs with my car. I need to know how to wire in the 3 wire plug-in on the alternator and I did a Tach test on my stock tach and now the needle resides at 7000 RPM can this be fixed or is the tach toast?
Thank You

Heavy wire in rear goes to battery through a fuse link, two top plug wires the heavier of the two goes to a " key on" 12 volts. Other wire is a sense line that ties through a resistor or diode to any 12 volt key on line. www.alternatorparts.com has a free online manual with different wiring schemes for Delco alts.
