rear defroster question

ok so i took my whole rear internal panels out to re paint them! (looks like new).. and I found the wire for the other strut that works the rear defroster!

so i'm excited now i havent had rear defrosters ever and when i hit the button... the light goes out then if I hold it I get a pretty lud clicking noise from what sounds like the passenger side dash...

maybe from the heter core? any ideas on whats wrong?

There is a relay panel in front of the right side dash. It contains the power antenna relay, RW defroster relay, and other components. I'm guessing you have a failing relay or connection issue there.

do ytou think this relay would also cause these other problems... sometimes my tach jump around but the actuall rpm stay normal... when i turn the fan for my defrosters on to max... it shuts off but if i turn it back a notch it comes on full!

If you remove teh lower dash trim panel you might be able to see the relays. I had to remove the dash panel itself to access that relay panel.

As for your other issues, you may have a power connection or ground problem feeding the controls, or a completely separate problem with the fan switch. The tach may be a connection problem again, or the tach filter failing.
