brights in backup lights
I'm fed up with tailgaters. I remember reading somewhere of an idea to wire in brights into were the backups are.
How would this be done?
What harness changes would be needed?
I would still like the lights to go on in reverse, but I would also like the option to switch them on manually.
Would the heat from the bulb damage the plastic lenses? I have a '85 TA with the grid style tailights.
I was thinking splicing in the new sockets into the existing harness, then splicing in an extra power wire that rund to the switch.
What would be the easiest bulbs to use?
How much juice is the harness good for?
How would I go about upgrading the harness to handle more juice?
Thanks,
Matt

I have traffic flashers that are usedby the Police, that seems to work all the time. What traffic backers do is the alternatly turn on the brakes lights then the reverse lights on. Very illlegal.

easist solution would be to take your backup light switch and tap into thoes wires....
on a auto, you can tap into the two reverse wires on the shifter handle and wire a switch to them....
ive never had a stock 3rdgen manual, so i dont know if the switch is on the shifter or on the tranny, but take the wires going to the stock switch and tap off them to another switch.....
when the switch is on, the lights will always be on
when its off, they will only come on when the car is in reverse.
just dont forget and drive around with them on all the time.. theres a guy with a S10 around here that does that.
