My stero has no sound!!!

I got my camaro from this kid that said the deck worked but it wasn't hocked up all the way!! I was like thats cool when i get to it i will fix it! I just got to it and it dosn't have any sound!!! It went on but just had no sound. do i got a speaked that i know worked and it still didn't!! Is the deck blown??????

It sounds like the internal amp is fried, this can happen if speaker leads touch or get grounded out when the system has power. Well look at it this way...You have an excuse to buy a nice aftermarket CD now.

its fried! i messed with mine before and it did the same thing would come on but no sound.

b4 you say it's fried.. yank it out to see if the wires are connected. and that you don't have any blown speakers. 1 bad speaker can shut things down.. though usually not. but if they had an amp installed b4.. then your speakers probably aren't wired.. I can't remember the color codes.. but any 82+ chev has same stereo wiring and colors. i think its the greys and greens but i'd have to look it up.

i tested the speakers they are all good!! The kid did have a amp but it was just hooked up to the subs! And it is the green, purple, grey and white wires that go to the speakers!

It's definitely a blown amp in the deck. Same exact thing happened to me a while ago. It was a nice Alpine so I didn't throw it away. I took it down to a local stereo shop and they fixed it for me.
