Just installed a steering column from an 83 Z....
into my 84 SC. Everything works...turn signals, brights, except the wipers. They only work in wash mode. I haven't transferred the delay motor to the 84 yet....it has way more wires on it. So not sure if it'll work. And the stalk on both columns are shot. What do I need for the delay to work on the 84?
1. New stalk (can I get one with delay and no cruise?)
2. ?
3. ?
I forgot to mention the new column has cruise and delay and it's in the 84. The stalk is shot.
Thanks,
Brandon

Not sure of the switchover year, but somewhere around 83-84 the firewall changed and the wiper motors are different. So you may not be able to use the one from the 83, not sure though.
You need a delay control for a delay wiper, or a standard control for a standard wiper. You CANNOT mix and match. Trust me, I tried.
If you have a standard now, easiest thing would be to find a standard control stalk from another GM 80's vehicle. It obviously controls the turn signal, cruise, and wipers all together. Then you have to fish the wiring all the way through the column. Might as well take it out of the car again!
BTW, tilt and non tilt stalk controls are different, so choose the right one.

Yes, if the delay wiper you have fits an 84 firewall and you connected all your wires properly, it should work. Unless they changed the wiring between 83 and 84, but I doubt it.

A delay motor from an 84-up F-body or similar year G-body (Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, etc.) will bolt right in. You'll need to swap a few wires around where the wire connectors join at the column for them to operate properly. I had the combination figured out one time, but have misplaced the paper I had them written on
I do remember that I couldn't get the motor to run on high speed, though.
