Wiring a Cig. Lighter and Stereo

Can I just use a wire connected from the battery to wire a new cig. lighter, or is there soemthing in the fuse box I can use? Also, my stereo always losses all its memery after I restart the car. It's prolly wired wrong. How can I fix it?

to get your deck to save your settings, you need to have one wire on the 'acc' wire and the other to a constant +12v. im guessing who ever installed the deck wired the two seperate wires into just your 'acc' wire. if the wires arnt labled where there supposed to go - id look up the wiring diagram online or go to your dealer. and for your cig lighter. either use the accessory wire if you want it to work when the key is on, or a constant so its always live. just make sure you put a fuse inline somewhere if your not using a fused circuit.
