Car won't start - electrical woes.
Here's the deal... I stripped my interior (dash included), and after I was finished, my car wouldn't start.
During the time I was removing the dash, some wires that I had set up for my interior neon crossed and fried (yes, I really AM dumb enough to leave the battery connected). The neon was being run directly from the battery, no fuse -- just a switch... and wasn't connected to the fuse box.
Now, the car doesn't want to start.
I have power (lights, door locks, etc) but when I actually turn the key to start the car I get absolutely nothing. It feels to me like the Imobilizer on the alarm is disallowing ignition, even though the alarm is not armed.
I've checked most connections that I can see and everything seems okay.
I'm looking for any suggestions of things I can check. Keep in mind I removed my dash, and had to unplug a few things to do so, and maybe unplugged something I shouldn't have in the mean time?!? Any help is greatly appreciated.. I'm trying to get her running by the 7th so I can get her to the car-meet we have set up in Langley.

Fusible link...you get a clicky noise when you try and start it? Do a search for "Fusible link" and you will find all you need to know. This seems to happen to everyone. And if this isnt it, you may have connected something incorrectly etc.

i've been going over my connections..everything looks good.
i don't get the clicky when i start it.. i get nothing. its almost as if the key isn't turning at all --- except the door-chime doesn't ding while i turn the key, so i know it's making contact.

ok,starting at the ign switch harness, there are 2 large red wires that will show 12v(battery) power, next find a large purple wire in same harness.this will show 12v with key in "start" position only. this will go to switch on clutch pedal if manual or to shifter if auto.it goes to starter from there. the wiring will be different if this is an'89 or newer because of VATS anti-theft system from factory. that large pink in same harness as reds&purple is 12v when key is in "run" or"start" position. hope this helps

alright.. i'll check those wires out. if not, i guess it's a matter of replacing the starter (maybe!??!? :P) i'll end up at a mechanic's either way, i'm sure.. because i'm in no position to start assessing the problem myself...especially if i want this beast running by sunday!
