stock mustang coil in a 2.8 firebird?

My coil on my car went bad, i had this new coil from my old car stitting in the closet along with the accel plug adapter for a gm car, I hooked the one end of the + and - wires to the coils + and - terminals .The other end has the gm plug on it , just like the socket on top of the 2.8 coil. I know my firebirds plug fits right into the accel wires socket, my question is will this coil work right in my car? Its two times the size of my crappy old coil in the car now. Maybe ill need hotter plug? This is the first time ive tried something like this, anyone have any ideas? will it work ?
