Brake Light Electric something problem
I have a 91 firebird/trans am and only half of the break lights come on. Now, I know that the lights themselves work because if I turn on the headlights the break lights come on but just not as bright until you push in the breaks and still only the lights on the driver side come or get brighter. I also noticed that at the same time this first happend my trunk/hatch release button doesn't work and all of the inside housing lights don't come on like the map lights and such. I changed all of the fuses that it could possibly be but I don't know what else to do.

its possible for the parking lights in the brake lights to work but the brighter ones not to be working even if its in the same bulb. take the bulbs out and see if they are broken and replace.

That could be very well true but that still wouldn't explain everything else that went wrong at the same time.

for the maplights look closely at teh ACC fuse again. i think its like the 3rd row from the top, in the middle of the row.. im going off memory for my 91, so it could be a diff location, but you get the idea...
as for the brake lights, replace the bulbs... do all of them, not just the broken ones...
otherwise, the new ones will be brighter, look wierd, and you will just have to replace the old ones soon anyway.

A blown CTSY fuse will explain the interior lights and hatch release not working. I'd bet your horn doesn't work either...

Thanks everyone,
It was just a fuse that I missed, I checked every other fuse but that one until I looked in my manual and felt like an idiot.
.
But it was just a coincidence that the break light went out the same time that the fuse did. I'll get right on to fixing that problem right away.
