I Need Steering Column Electrical Help

Ok. I just swapped a 1984 Z28 Automatic Steering Column into my 1984 Z28 5-speed.

My problem:

The wire's on the steering column's harness for the wndsheild wipers doesn't match up with my cars side of the harness. It's a 5 wire harness.

My car has colors:

White
Grey
Green
Purple
Pink

The new Steering column has colors:

Grey
Black
Green
Purple
Pink

The white wire is the hot wire, that's all I know. I have tried to match them up in numerous combinations but I still have no luck in getting it hooked up correctly.

I wonder if anyone could help :hail:

That's weird - they should just plug in and work. The black wire on the column is odd, though; are you sure it (the column) isn't from an 82 or 83?
Maybe try switching the wires on the column to match those from the body harness this way:
column-|-body
black--|--white
purple--|-grey
grey---|---green
green--|--purple
pink---|---pink

If that doesn't work, I dunno

I bought it from a seller on Ebay who said it was from an 84. It could be from a 82-83 though. Maybe it was from a parts car and he guessed based on the ground effects.

Is that wire combination from your 83? I'll definatley try it out

Thanks, Joe

The combination I listed above is a mix of the two; check out this thread for more interchanges... https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=73978
I originally had to figure out for putting an 84 column into the 83, then figured out for someone else how to wire up an 83 column into an 86 or so...
