Not trying to point out the obviouse, but did you check your battery? A low battery may cause the starter to do that.

I know this isn't going to sit well with you, but if your battery has got good juice, and your starter just clicks, it's a bad starter, no two ways about it. It may work sometimes (like when it's cold, but not after a drive, much like the old one in my GTA), but that doesn't make it good. If your battery has juice, and the STARTER is clicking (not just the relay), then you need a new starter.
Sorry to be "that guy", but after replacing the starter in my GTA three times in as many weeks, I know when to quit kicking the dead horse and accept that a new part is in order. My problem wasn't with my car, it was a bad run of luck with a particular brand (that rhymes with PowerMaster) and finally ended up getting a better (Summit brand) one, and haven't had a bit of trouble since. Good luck.

i am like 80% sure the battery is good, but i therw it on the charger to see if it makes the difference, and it will start if i jump start it

it has done this before and then after driving it a few miles it was fine untill now.... about 2 months later

So the battery was low. Either you have a draw that is drawing down the battery while the car isn't running, or the alternator isn't keeping the battery charged will it is running. That's my guess. Of course you checked the battery cables for corrosion and tightness.

Could be a bad solenoid. The clicking is the solenoid firing, but if the copper contact disc in the solenoid is burnt, it won't allow juice to the starter. I have taken the disc off and flipped it over before. That sometimes lasts a while. Solenoids are cheap, though. $10 - $15.

does it still start when u jump start it or put the charger on the start setting? charging it all night wont do any good if the battery is bad. before u run out and get a new starter see if it starts w/ a jumpstart or the charger on the start setting, or temporarly swap in a good battery.

well then its definetely not the starter. why would u replace the starter if its the battery thats bad. hopefully you have a warrenty on the battery if its only a few months old. your alternator is possibly bad too, have it tested.

yeah definitely have your alt. tested.. They'll do it for free at pretty much any auto parts store. If it's fine, then test the battery over a couple days, see if it's not holding a charge, and get a new one if it isn't.. Then, if all that doesn't solve your problem, replace the solenoid.

ok so i was right, it wasn't the battery, it was good like i thought, and the starter is good also..... the connection going from the battery to the starter on the starter end was bad, so i had to re do it, i had this done last march, but they obviously didnt do a very good job considering it already corroded away again.

I't's real hard to repair a battery cable. My advice is to spend the money on a new high quality cable, otherwise you'll have the same problem again in another 6 months. Been there, done that, ended up buying the cable anyway.

I had the same problem...check all your connections to the alternator...then the battery cables...then the ground. I checked all mentioned until I was informed here that there is a flat braided ground wire behind the block that connects to the firewall. The bolt connected to the engine block was loose. Tightened it and BAM....the car started. Check it out....:lala:
