1986 firebird Temp gauge

Simple question: Does the temp gauge just push into slots or is there wires going to them?..I checked out a cluster from 1987 firebird and wanted to figure out, how the temp gauge came out and in that cluster, you just pull that gauge out and plug it back in..does this pertain to the 86 firebird as well??

Are you trying to replace clusters from an 87, to an 86... or are you trying to add an aftermaket gauge to you're cluster?

The cluster has openings for connectors behind it, that allow the connectors from the harness to plug into it (by pushing the cluster forwards.)... but the actual cluster itself has a flat sheeting lying flat up against it on the back, with the leads on this sheeting going to their individual gauges.

The heavy wiring from the harness is behind the connectors, that's positioned/locked on the inner part of the dash....
