Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo,shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
install second alt in ac comp mount?

Has anyone installed a second alt where the ac compressor went? It doesnt look too hard to do. I might try it this summer, i was just wondering if someone has already done it. thnx:lala:

your right doesnt seem that it would be to hard, but any reason?

there are good 140 amp ones that just basically bolt right in.

Unless you plan on putting light bars, and life support equipment in your car, there's no need for a 2nd alt. If your dead set on the idea, look up "dual alternators" for ambulances on google.

no reason really, just think it would be fun to do. I dont have a ton of amps or speakers, i just want to try it.

If you do want to do this, i believe that the alternators have to be the same amp draw..

If you are running amps, use a power capacitor. Much easier to install

alternators do not drawl amps, they supply them, a cap would be another thing my current alt would have to supply power to, im thinking of adding a second alt because of the added power it would supply. ei, two 120 amp alts would supply 240 amps, thats enough power to have shock paddels installed in my firebird incase someones heart ever stopped! lol jk, more than enough for any amps etc i ever install. Im just thinking of it, like doing something differnt ya know?
