Question on engine cooling fan???

I have a 1986 firebird..My question is this..is there a way to hookup a light to the inside of car, to let me know, when Fan (single)engages and is on and when it goes off??..I dont want to depend on gauges, which i have, just alone...good way to cook your motor..thanks

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
It's quite easy. Acquire and mount your desired indicator light (or LED with proper resistor) into your dash or wherever; ground one lead of the light, or the correct lead of the LED (they are polarity sensitive), and run another wire to the red power feed wire between the fan relay and the plug-in connector at the fan motor. The light will light up when power is sent to the fan, and wil slowly die down when the fan cuts out - the fan will create it's own power while spooling down (aka back EMF). Also when you reach a certain speed on the highway, the light will start to glow because the fan will be turning due to the airflow through the rad. Neat.
