Well, the problem is this, I have no headlights, no turn signal lights, no taillights, no interior lights at all, no trunk release from inside, and finally no horn. However the power windows work and the radio works and the wipers work. I checked all the fuses and they are good.... visually that is. Now i am gonna go replace them here in a bit. I'm doubting that it is gonna make a difference though, so i hope you all can help me out.

Does the car start? How about the fuel pump when you turn the key, does it turn on and prime the system?

The car starts and runs fine, and it should i just put on the new starter and its got a new battery and fuel pump. And i doubled checked to make sure all the wires are still connected to the battery.

 

are all the wires still connected to the starter? is yes, sounds like a fusible link may have broke

 

A broken fusible link at the starter solenoid would not let him start the car or have any power to the fuse block. Check your 20 amp ACC fuse, it controls all the items that you have listed as being inop. Also check your tail light fuse.

Well i just replaced both fuses and i still got no response. I inspected the dome light and the headlights, all looked to be in working order.

 

Drop your fuse block down and look at the wiring to the ACC fuse connector, There is an orange colored wire that runs from it to a junction that sends power to the accessories that you are having problems with. If the fuse is good, then you have a problem with this wire, it is probably broken somewhere above the fuse block.

Well it seems this is turning into a bigger project then what i had thaught it would be. I think i'll tackle this tomorrow sometime. Hey thanks for all the help though it is much apprecitaed. I'll post on here and let yall know if i was able to fix it. Thanks again

 

Ok well i takcled this problem again today. I checked the orange wire that you mentioned and i followed it as far as i could and found no damage to it. I pushed it into the fuse block to make sure it still had a good connection. Still i'm gettin nuthin.

 

Try a continuity test from that wire to an accessory that uses that wire for it's power. I'm not sure about other accessories but i know that the dome light and courtesy lights are switched ground so the orange wire going to them is hot all the time. So one of those might be a good choice to use. I think you might have to have the battery disconnected. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

 

By experience I'm gonna go with a blown fusible link. I'm willing to bet that one by the starter is blown. My IROC had the same problem he mentions, exactly. Except someone wired the ACC wire to the ignition, so my lights and everything worked, but only with the car on. So I replaced the links, and the lights work all the time. Only problem now is so do the wipers. I ran another wire to the IGN plug on the fuse box so at least the radio shuts off.

 

I don't know exactly what its called but i think i found were the problem is at. The headers are touching a wire coming from the starter.The part that is touching looks like a 1" long white cylinder. Its melted to the side of the header.

 

That is the fuseable link. I'm not sure the best way to replace them but i know some auto parts stores sell replacement ones, i think they're crimp on though.

Pick some 16 gauge ones. The new ones may look like just a piece of wire and not a cylendar. Also do yourself a favor and pick up the largest rings you can find for 16 gauge wire, as the ones the links come with probably will not fit over the starter stud.

Oh and when you change it... DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!!

 

I had a problem that was similar to that and the reason whatmy interior wiring harness was from a tune port car and the exterior one was from a throttle body i think... I havent replaced it yet but its wired up for now ..... I plan or replacing it sometime this winter if i can get my car into a garage someplace.... I dont know if that help or not.

 

Well i replaced the fusible link. Everything works great now!
