Radar Detector Reviews

*Sorry if this isn't the right forum*

I wanted to get a feel for what radar detectors ya'll would recommend. Keep in mind that I am not looking on spending over $150.

my opinion: Radio Shack # 22-1699

$130/100 with/without compass.

Or, anything but Whistler.

i would spen the extra 150 and get a jammer/scrambler but thats just me and there are plenty of places to mount it where it is not visible even though most of them look just like radar detectors and the cop wouldnt even realize and they will pay your ticket if the cop checks the radar or laser box on the ticket this is every ticket during one year after you buy it

cops can write out tickets for anything. If the cop wants to nab you hell nab you. Scrambler or not. Let him see it and it can be even worse! When the cop gives you a ticket for something else in place of the speeding ticket are they gonna pay that? I doubt it.

On the side of review. Id say get something cordless and maybe that doesnt pick up security doors etc. I ****ing hate that! If they make em...

Honestly, my Whistler was the only radar detector that I've liked. My K40 is a piece of crap, and the Bels false way too much. My Whistler gave me almost a 2 mile warning on the thruway, didn't false all the time, and had a cool text readout and a friendly female voice that kept me company on long rides.

valentine 1.

the only detector worth buying IMO.... to put it in current slang: "it is da bomb shiznit. fo shizzle."

it doesnt just say "hey, theres a cop somwhere around here" it says hey, theres one ahead, or even, hey theres 3 ahead, 2 behind and one to the side.

it works FAR better then any detector ive ever seen.. and its been #1 in every detector test that included it for the past 15 years or so....

and yes, you can get a remote face for it.... and if you're ambitious, you could intergrate the remote face with the dash and have it "in dash"

yea... the price sucks... but they do offer upgrades for life after that, and they pay your ticket if you get one....

to be honest, the best cheap solution for HIGHWAY travel is still CB.

as long as you can decipher what they're saying, you'll know about a "bear" long before you see him.
also gives ya somthing to do on the road, and it can be quite amusing.

Not to start a flame but....I deff. wouldnt pay 400.00 for a radar detector. Wheres the extra 300+ dollars for this detector? that it can detect further? Ive always been warned long before Ive seen a cop even with cheap detectors. Im thinking about getting a cordless one.

Honestly the only way Id spend over 150.00 on a detector was if it didnt beep at security doors and banks!...How does the valentine1 holdup??

excelent.

not to mention, lets say you're driving in town and a automatic door confuses it..(it happens to even the best)

well, you see one "whatever band" ahead... you tap it to shutup.

well while you're still ignoring a normal detector, the V1 goes off again saying theres another one ahead and its on a diff band "more likely a cop or whatever"

as you drive by, the V1 tells you if its infront or to the sides or behind you... so as you pass the doors, you know to ignore it, but you also dont think "its just the doors" and get tagged by the cop...

that sounds more confusing then it is... i guess what im saying is, its like 9 detectors in 1.... it can detect 9 seperate signals at the same time, and tell you where each one is coming from.

and its fully programmable, so if you dont want to hear a specific band or somthing, it can do that... say, if you're in dallas and you know they only shoot laser around there, you can tell it to ignore a more common shared band, at the touch of a button, and then when you're not in DFW, go to a diff mode...

lotsa lil features... and well worth the money once it avoids a ticket.... my fav feature still is the fact that it tells me how many cops are around and where they are....
