distribtor problems

so i just dropped in my rebuilt motor everything went smooth till i went to start it and all it did was turn over so i checked the distributor and found i had 12 volts going in but not coming out, so i changed the coil, module condensor, and all the wires inside the distributor, and still no good, all the wires on the starter are hooked up and so are all the grounds. any suggestions before i burn it to the ground would be greatly appreciated.

I would start by disconnecting the tach.
The wire may be pinched and shorted to ground.
If you need more help let me know. what year and motor
you have? I can get you diag and more.

I had the exact same problem with my distributor. I was getting power from the cap, but nothing from then on. After replacing every part on the distributor, I found that the pickup coil needed to be replaced. Now this part isn't easy to replace, although it is fairly cheap (maybe $10). In order to replace it, the distributor shaft has to come out. You have to take out the pin that holds the gear on the distributor, just pound it out. Be sure not to lose that pin. I did. I had a very hard time trying to replace it. If the distributor shaft does not want to come out, try pounding it back in and trying again. Good luck with that.
