Accel DFI ECM?

Accel DFI ECM?
I just installed the super ram on my 383 stroker but there is a problem. The ECM in the car (85 Z28) is stock and I won't get the most out of the setup witht the stock computer. I figure since I got the super ram I might as well go with something also made by Accel, but has anybody had any experience with the Accel ECM? If not, what else can I do? Thanks!

why not save yourself the cash and get into chip burning and roll your own chip for your setup? there's no better way. simply buying an aftermarket ECM won't get the most out of your setup either. you'll need to tune it as well.

that would be alot cheaper, however I have no idea where to begin and I would probably just end up screwing it up real bad and I'd have to spend more money to fix my problem. Unless somebody wants to do it for me?!!?

you'll have to tune any ECM you put in there anyway. With accel, you'll just be using their software. thats the only difference.

The '85 ECM is MAF (Mass Air Flow) based, and maxes out @ 255 g/s, which is not enough for the 383 @ high rpm. Your best bet is to use a SD (speed density) system (I believe the Acell DFI is SD), which uses engine RPM and MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) to determine engine load. SD is more sensitive to engine modifications, once it has been tuned, since it is not measuring actual air flow, but is not limited by the MAF sensor maximum reading. The Accel DFI also has a wide band O2 sensor option available for real time afr correction. Another option would be to convert to a '90 - 92 SD system (7730 ECM) & use Tunercat & a PROM programmer & PROM eraser to tune the system.

You have many options, and most of them are cheaper than the accel and offer exactly the same benefits (including WBO2). As well there are many ECM options, many programmer options, and many software options.
Investigate it. Battle through the learning curve. The rewards are great. And the pocket book impact is minimal.
