power drain, weird noises

Just got my 89 formula 305 about a month and a half ago, and it just now finally got warm enough to venture outside and tinker with it.
Ive been trying to track down a drain on the battery.. cant get any readings that theres any power going thru any of the fuses when its off.. all ive got to go on is weird noises right now
at first after reading these forums I thought maybe it was the power antenna making the noise, because it doesnt move and Ive read if it gets stuck it never shuts off, so i disconnected the (grey, green, brown?? or something) wires that went to the relay behind the dash, noise didnt go away.. further examination says its definately coming from the rear of the vehicle
sometimes i dont hear it at all though.. and then sometimes i leave the car for hours and come back outside and its still making noise back there, i have the power hatch release, but it seems to be coming from outside the car.. could the fuel pump be bad? or the relay for the fuel pump? if that could be it could someone give me an idea where the relay for the pump is
thanks for any help in advance

edit.. i suppose the sound may be of help, its kind of a high pitched whining kind of sound..

If it's a whine is sound like the fuel pump. Relay is on the driver side firewall, it's the only one that should look different. The MAF power and burnoff relays are oval shaped, the fuel pump relay is square. If you go to www.acdelco.com you can look up the car and they give you a picture of it. The other source of power for the fuel pump is the oil sender unit, when you reach 4 psi a switch in the sender also closes giving the fuel pump a second power source. First, pull the relay out and see if it goes away. If it does the fuel pump relay contacts may be hanging up, if not most likely the oil sender switch is sticking. Either one can cause the problem.
