Difference Between VATS and Passkey?

I am in the process of installing TPI into my 68 Camaro. The parts I am using are from an '89 Firebird, including the engine harness and dash harness. I know the VATS can be disabled by editing the PROM, but what about the Passkey module?

Is there a difference between the VATS and Passkey?

If I disable the VATS via the PROM, can I omit the passkey module from the installation?

I believe that they are the same thing. If it is removed from your Prom you should be able to get rid of the module without any ill effects. I have a 91 and I edited it out I just made sure that I also disabled the DTC code to keep the light from coming on.
