Di-Electric Grease

Anyone have recommendations for Di-Electric Grease. I got a small tube from Autozone but it seems too thin. I am looking for something like the OEM stuff that is thick and sticky.

thanks in advance,
phil

I am using this stuff called Harvey's silicone grease. it is like the OEM stuff. it comes in a little white plastic dish. I seem to remember getting it a home depot or Lowe's or something. You might want to give it a shot.

Dielectric grease is not typically thick nor sticky. GM number is 12345579 for a 1oz. tube. Places like McMaster Carr have the industrial size tubes a lot cheaper. You are not confusing dielectric grease with heat sink compound? Heat sink compound is white and kind of tacky and is used to provide thermal transfer from an electrical component to it's heat dissapation mount. I use dielectric grease a lot and have not seen much difference from one brand to the other. Sometimes it has some runny crap out of the tube when first used, otherwise that's all I can think of.

All I know is the grease that is in my tail light bulb sockets, and turning signal light bulb sockets is yellow and thick and sticky. I assumed it was di-electric grease.

Know exactly what you are referring to Phil, I think it's just plain old garden variety grease. I have seen the dealer mechanics dab a wad of axle grease when replacing lamps in sockets. Silicone grease gets watery with heat as in the case of a lamp plus it's cost prohibitive in mass production. Just use a little wheel bearing grease in the socket, keep it off the bulb and you should be fine.
