HYD head lights
Ok im pretty fluent when it comes to wiring i have 1 question about using these lights. According to the specs of the headlights they draw more Amps than the standard sealed beams The factory harness doesn't have very thick wires 14 gauge off the top of my head. Do i dare run the lights using the factory harness and risk a fire?? or do i make a new light harness that runs closer to the lights using a relay?

id do it the relay route, better safe than sorry, spend a few dollars on some good wire and relays, or use the stock wiring and wonder everytime u use your headlights is the wiring gonna start on fire

Has anyone done this on the board I would be interested in finding out how they did it

you dont have to replace your light switch to use the hid lights, what u do is use the stock wiring to trigger the relays which the hid lights run off of, stock switch

what im asking is which wires do i use from the switch as trigger wires for standard and which ones for high beam? I have never wired headlights (other than using factory harness)

On the tech page is an article discussing how to do this. I did it on my 86 IROC and it made a big difference, but I havent done it on my 89 GTA yet, as the sealed beams arent all that bad on it. https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...tupgrade.shtml
