purple and yellow wires behind fuse panel
I have a empty connector with a thick purple and yellow wire under my drivers side dash hanging behind the fuse panel. and i dont know what they are.
i checked my other 88 ta,and it does'nt have them wires. does anyone know what they are for???

Did your car have a manual transmission in it at one time. If so, there would be a connector in that area that would go to the clutch start switch.

Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Both of my Firebirds - 86 and 89 - have provisions for the neutral/clutch safety switch for both the manual and automatic transmissions. Both cars were T5-equipped, and both had the plugin connector inside the console to hook up to an automatic shifter. Weird.

is there a way to find out. i dont think it was ever a 5 speed car and then why doesnt the other one have it

No, his only has two wires to it and is hanging behind the fuse panel. The connector in that picture is under the center console and would be the Park/Neutral switch connector in a car with an automatic transmission.
