Hello 6cyl92CamaroRS,

If you have the hatch release in the center console, try opening your hatch with that. There may be a problem with the key lock release. There is also a "LID" fuse that controls the hatch release/pulldown assembly of which the keylock is a part of. The fuse is located in the fuse panel under the dash.

The key won't unlock the trunk? Either the latch is broken mechanically or the lock has become disengaged from the latch, electrical has nothing to do with the key opening the hatch.

Actually it does Morley. I mention the hatch release inside the car as his other means of opening the hatch. If that also doesn't work, he needs to look at the fuses and go from there.

When I bought my 91 formula the entire hatch release and motor drive were inop BUT the key would still release the hatch, the key has absolutly nothing to do with any of the electrical parts of the hatch release.

well i dont have a hatch release on the inside of the care the key is th eonly thing i can use and its been 2 days and it still isnt working i can feel it turning in there but it feel sliek its just like sliding right past it. Like the key feels exactly like it did when it did work but now it just doesnt make the loud clicking noise and opens it just kinda bumps and then i have to push back the other way to get the key out. So what do i do about this. How do i get to the latch to even fix it if it does need fixed?
THanks
Mitchell

It won't be easy or pretty to get at that latch. The options are; remove the lock...forceably and it will need to be replaced. From there you just stick a large blade screwdriver into the slot the lock was supposed to engage and turn it to release the hatch.
Second option is to get inside the car, fold the back seat down so you can get at the trunk. remove the big plastic screws that hold the close out panel in the back of the trunk and either carefully lift it from the bottom to get to the latch (and hope it doesn't break) or just cut a hole in the panel where the latch is and operate the latch from the inside.

But before doing either, try pushing the lock towards the trunk as you turn the key. It really sounds like it has become disengaged from the latch.
