Speedo

So I wasn't sure which subject to put this under and figured I'd take a shot here. My speedometer sticks real bad. Usually I get to 30 before it moves, sometimes it'll move quicker, sometimes it'll be perfectly fine. This gonna be a cable problem or a gauge problem? I bought a cable but haven't gotten under my car yet to try and change it. Figured I'd find out now since I'm gonna be doing a shift kit and vette servo.

Sounds like your speedometer is sticking due to dirt and 'dried up' lube. You'll need some non-detergent oil to re-lube the bushings in the speedo.
Since you have a 91.... there is no cable, the speedo is electric. You need to take the speedo cable back to where you got it and slap the salesperson in the face with it for even giving it to you.

My speedo on my camaro would not work when the car was cold. Then it would shoot up about 20 miles into my drive. I replaced the VSS yesturday and it works perfect now.

What do you have to replace on the VSS? How much was it? How difficult for a moron to figure out?

real simple 1 bolt holds it in.
First go under your car and on the driver side of the transmission right before the drive shaft you will see a round thing with a wire connector pluged into it that is your VSS

write down the numbers off it so you can get the correct one. It cost me 40 dolalrs from GMPARTSDIRECT.com

You take the screw out and connector off twist the VSS out put the gear on the new VSS slide it in screw it back in plug the connector in and your good to go. Its a 10mm bolt that holds it in.
