Tach Flicker, help fix
Just recently my tach has started to flicker while the motor is reving up. at idle it's fine, but sometimes while driving it'll flicker up and down by 1000 rpm. Where should I look to fix this problem? or what might i need to replace?

It doesn't connect into the distributor on his car. It comes straight off the white wire of the gray connector on his ignition coil and goes straight to the tachometer on the instrument cluster. There is a single wire connector near the distributor that is a diagnostic connector for the tachometer. It is a part of the wire going to the instrument panel. The picture you have listed above is correct, try moving the wires away from the sparkplug wires a little. On some cars there is a noise filter in the circuit for that problem.

well, rechecked everything again, and tucked the tach wire down away from the sparkplug wires and it still flickers.
it ONLY happens at higher rpms and when im on the gas, (downshifting doesn't flicker)
If all connections are good and there are noise filters involved, maybe one of them went bad
that, or maybe the insulation on the plug wires has gone bad causing interference. what do you guys think?
thanks

I forgot that his car runs the small cap External Coil.
