Same as everyone else(hacked console wires) HELP

I think I've researched every thread on this topic but am not finding any diagrams for the wires under the face of the radio/ in the console.

My 84 is giving me fits. Last year I lost my dash lights and console lights. I checked th 5 amp for the inst lights and it was fried, replaced and fried again. I've kinda narrowed it down to the radio, (like everyone), but need to knowwhat the wires are to...
I think 've got the radio harness (or rather where the harness used to be), and speaker wires figured out...
There's a yellow hot that I think powers the radio, a black that I assume, is a ground for th radio, and the front and rear speakers.
There is also a light brown that is coming from a completely separate area, that is a ground, and an orange hot from the same area(separate from the radio harness)
I'v got my console gutted and am wiring for a new amp and subs, I just want it right. (and my dash lights back)

Trickster, you out there???

Hello Kevin,

I don't have any wiring for the 84 at the moment. However i do have the wiring for the 82 and 85 firebirds on hand. Let me know what you need and I will see if I can help you with it. BTW, you have something shorting out that's causing your fuse to blow.

Yeah I kinda figured, from all I've read in this forum. I installed a new switch and reostat for the inst dimmer, reostat seemed to work for a little while, but then lights quit altogether again.
Tail lmps are fine headlmps work great, rebuilt the motors a few years back, just this dash problem, and wiring kinda baffles me...
I need something showing whats behind the console.../radio harness... maybe ac and dash lmps. I have access to GM book on camaros, but the tech wiring schematics elude me, with all those flow charts and illustrations of open wires and circuits and such.
TIA
p.s. I have checked installdr.com & seems to be a little vague as well.

You have to manually type this in for it to work:

This is for an 86-later radio, but it may be the same for your 84. I One of the two wires to the radio (this is the same if your radio is the 21-pin type) for the panel lights is brown (clock display) and the other, for the rest of the lights, is gray. The gray one likes to short out as I've seen...

I think your orange hot and brown ground are for the power hatch release. If not that, some early consoles had the clock option, but that should have had three wires, not two. I'm headed on vacation, so I won't be able to check my clock for a week.
