I just recently picked up a 1990 Camaro RS 3.1L. In order to start the car, there is a little "thing'', inside the steering column you have to depress while turning the key. You must do the same to shut it off. How can I fix this? Probably have to get a new column?

 

Can you be a little more specific than "there is a little "thing"", and can you post a picture of it?

 

I'll try and get a pic later, it's metal, and has a circle hole in the middle I believe, and it's located on the left side of the column, about middle ways back.
