Engine will idle but if you give it any gas the engine back fires and stumbles. Both my tach and my oil pressure gauge just stopped working. What is the problem?

i was going to attempt to do a tranny swap but as far as i got was getting the drive shaft out, unbolted a couple things that hold the tail shaft on, and then i went after the converter bolts but couldnt get them off. So the only thing i did that would have possibly had an effect on the engine is i didnt have the engine in the exact same spot as when i had started working on it because i had spun the converter around a bit hence turning over the engine. However i put the car back together, took it out, drove it for about 2 hours on and off, was running great, get within 2 minutes of my house and it starts stumbling and backfiring. Now it wont even make it past the end of the street.
