Bright lights
All of a sudden I turned on my lights and all I Get now is the brights, they will not go to dim (or single outere bulb) no matter what I do. I flip the turn switch back and forth and they are constant bright...what's going on?

Bright lights..
I think I may have found the problem with the bright lights being on all the time..on the signal switch it will not turn them off. The blue light in the guage cluster goes from dim blue to bright blue...but all four lights stay on...I looked and tinkered with every thing to find the problem....then I inspected the bulbs (Sylvania H2 halogen), found the left (passenger) bulb has a big hole in the outer lens with a big rock in the bulb interior (I removed the rock). Brights are still on...is this a safety feature of GM or 3Rd.Gen. For lighting safety...I will replace the BULB and report if the system goes back to normal...If not help!!. Thanks so much for all of the help you guys have given, ED.

First thought was a bad dim/bright switch. But with the indicator doing this it sounds like a short or grounding problem. Does the stalk switch click when you change from dim to bright and back?

At first this is what I thought also, the switch problem. The switch seems to be working perfectly. I do have a little time today and I am going to get another dim halogen bulb for the right side, to see if that is the problem. there was a big rock that went into this bulb....It may be a little strange but maybe with the whole in the lense of this bulb is what is making the brights stay on constantly....we will see.

Well I replaced both outer dim bulbs and still have the same problem. All four bulbs are on when I pull the light switch. The stalk dim/bright switch clicks just fine. Another strange thing is the blue indicator in the gauge cluster is on a dimmer color when the dim switch is pulled. Pulled and clicked to bright the blue indicator is much brighter. Third strange thing is when the switch is on dim the inner bright bulbs seem to be dimmer....what's going on????

Changed all four bulbs and the light switch....no difference. All four lights are on at the same time. When the stalk dimmer switch is pulled to dim the inner lights do go a little dimmer. When the stalk switch is pulled to bright they are much brighter....whats happening???Any one have any ideas??? Thanks, Ed.

4 things i would look at, #1, a ground problem for the head lights,
probably on the low beam side. #2, the dimmer switch, they can
feel like they are working right but still be bad. #3, a problem with the headlight wiring from the dimmer switch to the headlights. #4, a problem with the bulkhead connector.
i would lean toward #1 or #2 more than anything else.
