choke light. hehehe

Well let me start with telling you i already used the search function... now with that out of the way. My choke light is on ive tried 2 altenators, and 2 choke relays with no change. when i disconnect the choke from the connector i read 14.3v and the choke light gos out, when i connect the connector on pops the choke light and my voltage drops down in the 1.5-2v range. i have tried another choke and it has the same affect. where do i start with this problem?

Have you looked at the wiring? Do you have the dash with the gages or indicators?

Does it look something like this? Might want to check the grounds and the oil pressure sending unit.

The information that I posted is out of the 1984 firebird GM service manual. The drawing that you have listed there is not out of the 84 firebird or 84 camaro manual. To my knowledge there was not a VIN G in the 84 firebirds, there was a VIN 7. Also according to your previous post you had the dash with the gages in it. That schematic you have posted is for dashs without gages only. Here is the charging schematic for the V6 & V8 engines in the 84 firebirds. The second schematic here is the schematic for the choke heater on the V6 & V8 engines in the 84 firebirds with gages in the dash.

OK Trickster... YOU ARE THE MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!!! :hail: :hail: :hail: Thought it was the fuse, But 5 fuses later it wasnt, looks like its going to be the oil pressure sender thats at fault. Disconnected it put in a new fuse and wala it worked with out poping the fuse. I'm going to put in a new sender tomorrow and i will post my results.
