NO Batt Power, Alt Brand NEW, clueless

ive got a brand new optima red top and a 140 amp alt thats also brand new and both tested fine.....heres the scoop:

right before i replaced the alt i had underdrive pulleys on, i had charging problems (the alternator went bad) so i thought at first it was the pulleys and took them off. come to find out i needed that new alt. got it but nothings fixed really. i am still showing very low on my battery gauge and the car runs very "CHOPPY" especially at high RPM's, you can physically feel it run like junk. the alternator is just fine and pretty much brand new. after a charge it runs okay but soon after it goes low on the battery again. turn signals cause the batt gauge to "tick" back and forth an i dont know where else to go. if i had a short or something it should still run fine when the car is running and the alt is recharging it. also, im not showing dim lights, usually if you have a low battery the lights are very dim......anyone have any ideas?????

also, can the serp belt affect how the alt charges, mines fine but i thought i read that somewhere.
