ACC fuse problem

Ok, here is the problem, I have several things I know of running off the ACC fuse, the cig lighter, CB, dome and curtesy lights. And the fuse blows like everyother day, and I also have to unhook the battery to put a fuse in or it will blow.

I need to know know if the tag light is also on that fuse, cause I think there is a short in my tag light wiring.

the tag light is the only thing I can think of thats shorting.

Thanks
Kyle

"Tag light?" Do you mean the rear license lights? Those are proteceted by the 20A TAIL fuse, not the ACC fuse.

Take a look inside the ash tray to make sure the metal liner is not pinching a wire. Remove the lighter itself to make sure there are no foreign objects (like screws or coins) in the lighter socket. If everything is good there, try installing a new fuse with the lighter out of the socket.

Other loads connected to the ACC fuse that might be worth looking at are:

Rear cargo well lamp;
Map/reading lights;
Power antenna and antenna relay;
Horn relay (big possibility);
Dome and courtesy lamps;
Rear power hatch release and pull-down motor.

The tag (license) light is on the "TAIL" fuse and is only functional when the lights are turned on with the light switch. Here is a schematic of the "ACC" fuse showing the items that are connected to it.

When an electric motor is jammed up (the output shaft can't turn), It will draw too much current (and get hot) and blow fuses, sometimes right away, somtimes after a few hours.
Looking at Trickster's print, I see power seats and mirrors as possiblie problems. Do you have these? Do they work OK? Anything getting hot with a good fuse?

no, no power seats or mirrors, but the underhood light, the wire got the insulation fried off in a small fire, if the wire is touching metal somwhere it would cause it to short, right?
