Hayden fan control circuit ?
Hey all, just in need of a little advice here. I purchased the Hayden adjustable thermostat a while back and have it hooked up as follows:
Red: directly to batttery
Yellow: 20a source from fuse box
Green: nothing...yet
Blue and Orange: directly to the wiring coming out of the fans
Black: ground
Here's my complaint. The way I have it wired worked fine till a couple nights ago. It was extremely cold, I was driving at night, had the heater blowing like crazy, headlights, radio, etc. When the fans kicked on, I noticed a significant voltage drop in my battery, as read by the guage. It went from holding steady at 14v down to about 10v. This was at idle, and I switched the heater off and started driving and it was fine. Here's my question: how could I rectify this? I dont' want to fry up my alt or battery by running too many accesories off of it. If I were to wire the blue and orange wires for the fans into the factory relay, would that help to create a more stable circuit and not put as much draw on the battery? Just need a little advice if anyone could throw it out there. Thanks!
