how do i wire light to my autometer gauges

ok i have my gauges all wired except my oil pressure sender( i know where it goes i just need a t fitting or extention.) Ok so how do i wire the gauges into the light switch so that when i turn my lights on my gauges also light up. I plugged it into the fog light terminal and they lit up all the time.

Lower the fuse block and tap into the 5A INST LPS fuse wire, it's gray.

Hey Benm109, if you tap into that 5A Inst Lps fuse, will the autometer gauges also dim with the dimmer switch? that is what I want mine to do. I want them to come on when I turn on the headlights, and be able to adjust their brightness with the dimmer switch. Thanks.

Uhh, if you give me a day or two I'll double check (car's down for some minor repairs), but if I'm not mistaken, I think they do dim.

Thanks, take your time though as I am in no hurry. I am still in the process of making my gauges panel, and I still haven't even bought the gauges yet!

If you're talking about the gray wire for the lights, it's behind the fuse block. The fuse block is located under the steering column, on the left. It will be above where you rest your left foot when your driving. It's what all of the fuses attach to. Two 7mm bolts should hold it in and then it should lower down enough to see the wires coming out of the back of it. Just lower it, and look for a gray wire, and make sure that's it's running into the back of the fuse block, where the INST LPS fuse is.

You could also just buy what's called a "fuse tap." I've never personally used one, but they're pretty neat. You just remove the fuse, install the fuse tap with the wire you need crimped or soldered on (in this case, it would be the 12V lighting wire from your tach), and then reinstall the fuse.
