Alarm self-triggering woes
Ok....so when i got the car it had a magnadyne carbine alarm (installed 10 yrs ago prob). But I eventually had to pull the fuse beacause it kept going off randomly. It had infrared sensor on the interior, shock sensor mounted in the engine bay, hood pin, and glass breakage sensor, and NO keyless entry.
Car was broken into so i figured it was time to get the alarm fixed. Went ahead and bought a new Viper 350hv and had it installed at bestbuy. It has shock sensor, proximity sensor, keyless entry, and they went ahead and wired the hood pin in also.
It did the same thing (i,e self triggering randomly). So I cut out the hood trigger. Still self triggering. Checked the siren grounds and all was well. I replaced my door jam pins......still self triggering.
Both the shock sensor and proximity sensor were turned to maximum sensitivity.
I went ahead and pulled the harness for the shock sensor and have not had any problems. I've talked to people who say the shock sensor is usually the culprit. I dont understand why I'm getting problems from a brand new shock sensor. It only has 4 wires (power, ground, and 2 multiplex wires). Where are the multiplex wires supposed to be attached?
Anyone else with similar problems??

oops...sorry. Realized that it was the proximity sensor I unplugged. No false alarms with it disabled.
