Tachometer measuring / calibrating

I ended up with more than one cluster and I would like to verify that they are accurate.

Right now I'm trying to measure the accuracy of the tachometer but I'm not sure how to properly apply power and input signal to the back of the cluster.

I have a signal generator, and oscilloscope and some Helms manuals (Thanks sleeper415). Unfortunately the measurements are done with electronic fixtures and with the cluster installed. The pin outs between models seem to be different in the manuals and I would like to measure the tach from the connectors on the back of the cluster unit.

Is anyone familiar with measuring and/or calibrating the cluster units with this equipment? I'll figure it out over time but I'd rather not risk damaging anything.

Also, is there a procedure on calibrating this as well?
Thanks,
Terry

O.k,
I figured out the inputs and noticed the propritary chip on the board. Does anyone know what this chip is?

Any suggestions on calibrating?
