Fuel system relays
I'm having a problem getting power to the fuel pump. Pulled the tank and put a new pump in but no power at the three wire pigtail forward of the tank. The fuse is good. I was told the fuel pump realy was behind the brake booster. There are three, which is the correct one? Are there any other relays I should be looking at?

It will be the one closest to the engine. BTW, have you checked the 20 AMP fuse that is located near the battery. That fuse supplies power to the fuel pump relay.

I checked the fuse first. Found out last night on another web site there was a "hot" lead near the AC dryer I could use to test too. TheGreatJ sent me to this site. Does the "hot" lead bypass the relay? I'm working off a Haynes schematic and it shows what it calls a "fuel pump/oil press switch sender" in line before the relay.
Any idea where that device is?
I've already dropped the tank and changed the pump. I even bench tested it in the tank to make sure it worked.

I'm pretty sure that device your Haynes manual is talking about is your Oil Pressure sending unit. That is located down in the area of the Oil filter.
The fuel Pump wiring is integrated with the Oil Pressure Sender wiring. Correct me if I'm wrong here Trickster

You are correct that the fuel pump relay is intergrated with the oil pressure sending unit 92'sleeper. The "Hot Lead" that the haynes manual is referring to is the "fuel pump diagnostic lead". It is a red wire with a connector and it is located in the wire bundle near the fuel pump relay. It takes the place of pin "G" of the ALDL on the earlier models of the third gens.
BTW, that "Hot Lead" near the A/C dryer is for testing the A/C system.

OK, powering the hot lead got the pump running. Do I need the fuel pump relay to get the engine running? If so, Is there a way to bench test the relay? If it's good, what's left besides the fuel injectors?

Did you get a check engine light with the code 54 at any point in all this? There is the possibility that you have a problem with the ECM.

The code will show up when you jumper pin "A" & "B" of the ALDL shown in the picture below. You can use a paper clip (also known as the poor man's scan tool) to jumper the pins. Do not do this with the engine running at any time.
Insert the jumper and turn the key to the "ON" position. The check engine light will come on and start blinking at you and the coolant fan will also come on. It is normal for the fan to come on at this point so don't worry about it, just worry if it doesn't come on. The light will start off by going flash...flash flash three times. This is for code 12 which is a normal code and also nothing to worry about. After that it will flash any other codes stored in memory. Code 54 is 5 flashes and then 4 flashes done three times. After the last code is flashed the cycle will repeat itself until you pull the jumper and turn the key off.
