Engine wiring question

I'm swapping from a 2.8L 2bbl engine to an 85 z28 lg4 engine.
My car is a 1983, can I just unplug the wires at the firewall and plug the v8's in?, or is the wiring on the column and underdash different?
If I can use the wiring does my existing wiring have support for the instrument cluster from the Z?
I'm not using any of the computer controls from the Z, just the engine wiring from the drivers side, I'm going vacuum dist and old quadrajet.
Thanks in advance for any replies, you guys always have an intelligent answer.

What I meant was will the bulkhead connector interface with the one fron the 85Z, or will I have to swap out the whole dash harness?

The driver's side bulk head connector of C100 has two purposes:
1. (Right side) Carry all electrical wires for the headlights and horn and such.
2. (Left side) Carry all electrical wires for the engine and sensors.

You should not need to even unplug it. Just get a diagram or follow wires to see where they lead in the engine.
