High beam/ cruise control problems

The stick on the left side of the steering wheel doesnt "click" when I pull back on it to engage the high beams. Also, the Cruise control doesnt work either. Are these problms related? Is the cruise control just on a fuse, or is there a bigger problem?

They're not as directly related as you would think.

When you pull back on the stick, it works a slider which pulls on a linkage. That linkage goes about halfway down the steering column to the actual dimmer switch.

All the switches/buttons for the cruise control are right there in the stick, and it has a cord containing 4 wires that feeds down the steering column to where it plugs into the wiring harness.

About the only thing that could be a common cause to both problems would be if someone was working down under the steering column. The cruise wiring could have been knocked loose, and the dimmer switch linkage could have been bent or knocked out.
