Wont Crank

I have a 92 Firebird with the 305 TBI. I just rebuilt the engine and reinstalled it now the engine wont crank. Before I took the engine out it had a day where it would not start. It wouldn't do anything but tick once. That cured itself. Now I can't even get it to do that. I heard it may be the neutral safety switch. How do you bypass that to test? Also I used a voltage tested to see it there was any power to the fuse and when I turn the key to start the engine there is no power to the 3 amp crank fuse. I can put a screwdriver accross the posts and it will crank though. Thanks.

Neutral Safety

I just removed the neutral safety switch and ran a wire accross it. It will start when I do that. Does that mean that it was the switch or could it still be something else. I am getting a new switch to install tomorrow.

You bypassed the switch and it suddenly works? I'd say it's the switch then.

It doesn't make sense though. It cranks in the on position when I bypass it. Not just in the start position on the ignition switch.I hope that is all that it is. Thanks.

Still Not Working

I put a new neutral safety switch in and it is still not cranking. Any ideas? I could bypass it by connecting a hotwire in the cluster to the purple lead to the starter, but i think that is all I accomplished. Let me know if there is something else that would result in the crank fuse not having juice on either side.
