power problems

I had wired a new fan into the fuse block spliced into the orange wire with a black stripe that originally fed the fuse for the old fan. Im not sure if i did something wrong there or not but i thought i got everything straightend out. I went to work last night and noticed it was reading a little low and I pulled into the walmart parking lot and the car died. This morning me and my dad put a new alternater and a new battery in and it still is reading low voltage from the battery like the alternater isnt even doing anything we think it could be a fusible link in between the main alternater power wire and that little power distribution block thing it connects to but we dont know what would have shorted it out. Any suggestions?

Had a very similar issue on my 87 IROC, turned out the fan fuse was blown. My alt was only putting out 11.6 volts, and my alt guage was dead. how the hell that ties in to the alternator not charging i dont know. as soon as i replaced the fuse with a good one, my alternator began charging properly and my guage began to read like it should. WEIRD!!!!!!!
