Anyone have a clue

about this?

The fuse with the interior lights, hatch release, power locks and whatever else on it has gone weird on me.

Out of the blue one day my locks just stopped working and when I went to replace the fuse it would spark , so we left it out for a while and I tried it today and it just blows the fuse whenever you put it in.

We unplugged the wires for the hatch release and took out the bulb for the interior lights and its still blew

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also my left side dash lights dont work either
I think that is unrelated though

Any hints at what to check and maybe the link to a wiring diagram

Thanks,
Aredross a.k.a. The guy who has no auto electronic experience

Wiring diagram I don't have, but you definitely have a short. That same circuit runs the "memory" +12V line to your radio, and if I'm not mistaken, the cigarette lighter as well. Check to see if a penny fell in there.

Another good thing to check would be to lower the fuse panel and look at the back of it to see if there are any stray wires or wire strands making contact with other connections.

I am in the same boat you are, power locks, dome light, power hatch and the cigarette lighter all don't work. Everytime i put a new 20 amp fuse in, it blows right away. I unhooked the cigarette lighter to no avail. I pulled the fuse box down and did find a metal retaining clip to the dash board laying on top of it , thought for sure that was it, but didn't solve the problem either. I really haven't felt like messing with it lately. You could get a chiltons or haynes manual (not the best books) but they have wiring diagrams in them.

One of the small idividual wires that comes off the large bolt on the starter solenoid supplies power to that fuse, might wanna check those out.
