Starter not stoping

Hello every one! I got a problem when I start my car the starter doesn’t stop trying to start when the car is started, and even if I take the key out its still going so I got to get out and disconnect the battery and when I reconnect the battery the starter doesn’t start going. The starter is new. What do you think?

Stupid question but there is a purple and white wire that goes to the solenoid. You didn't accidentally hook it to the main post or the wrong side of the solenoid did you?

Other than that i would have to get into my service manual to see where you could be getting power from. What year is your car and does it have the VATS (anti-theft system installed/ key with the resistor in the middle) If so there is a starter enable relay behind the driver's side kick panel that could be bad.

I got the battery cable and two other red wires going to the main post I think I put the purple and white wire on the right one. Its an 89 GTA so it does have the VATS how do I test the starter enable relay and what does it look like?
