wiring harness problems

I have an 86 trans am that had no motor in it when I bought it.
I have installed a 350 with a comp cam and 202 crate motor heads with a zz 4 intake using the HEI distributor and cc carb
that was in the back seat. i do not know if it had an electric cooling fan in it originally or not. It will have for now a mechanical
fan. I have removed the air pump system also and plugged the exhaust manifolds. It is also running a mechanical fuel pump.
have the distributor wired up, the 02 sensor wired up
and the knock sensor wired up. I have 2 oil sending unit one for gauges I presume and 1 for what ? Numerous vacuum hoses and other wires I have no clue where they go. do I need all of these wires ? Some pics and diagrams would be most apprecited, or
a link where I can find this stuff.

Electrical is always a PITA, and in a case such as yours... very hard to put in words over the net. There is always great info about these cars and stuff we do to them here... The 2 oil sender you have are... 1. like you already know, to the guage itself, the other is usually a fuel pump shut off if you ever lose oil pressure. If I remember correctly the one near the oil filter is the fuel pump shutoff

This ones goes directly to EFI to Carb swap. Should help you a good amount...

Thanks for the Information

Though I'm new to this forum, I have been driving 3-gens since '84. Now that I've decided to do this Revision "the right way", the info in the included thread will be very helpful.

Glitch - I am in the process of going fron ccc Carb to TPI. I have my old wiring harness out and have learned a lot about it by removing it. If you have a specific question please post and a pic helps to. Like I said I have mine on the garage floor so please post any questions while I still have it out for a few more days. Good Luck'

Yo' Tony, I have removed the throttle kicker, iss, tps, and all related componets...I have the Fisher '84 manual and have followed it (AMAP).
I want to run A/C, and having removed the throttle kicker wire(lt. green) and tps wire (lt. green) from the 4-cavity connection (the one going from the wiring harness to the compressor). I have only one wire going to the compressor also a lt. green. ***I don't know iffin this will be all I need to make the A/C compressor come on.*** I plan on using a dashpot w/relay & or switch for idle adv. when A/C is on. Suggestions/Comments on this.
After doing a continueity test; no bat, bulkhead harness connected, powered tester grounded on compressor and connection at compressor (the one with the diode) probed, I get a weak light from the testers bulb. Could you clue me in on what I'm missing/need to do??
Your response to the previous post is MUCH appreciated!!!!

AC Compressor. My wife took the damn digi camera out of town til tuesday night or I would give you pics but I will tell you what I have going to my compressor:

There is a 2 bladed flat plug in between the rotating clutch and the large compressor. The plug has 2 wires coming off of it, 1 goes to the back side of the compressor with a plug that looks like a knock sensor connector. The other wire from the 2 bladed flat plug goes down and is connected to a plug that I believe is your steering box? Follow the steering column out of the firewall and just before the radioator on the top is a connector with 2 wires. 1 of those wires is the one going up to that connector I talked about.

The wire coming from my firewall wiring harness is a greyish/green color that is going to the compressor. The other wire going down to that steering box connector has a white stripe on it.

If this is not what you needed to know just tell me and I will go and look somemore for ya.

Tony

Yo' Tony, Sorry for the delayed response. I've been wrenching!!
Well, I am trying to do some testing to see if I have wired this thing well enough in light of the fact that I have eliminated the ECM and it's whole family. Not sure if the weak signal I'm getting with the continuity tester. ?? is it enough to make the A/C compressor come on. As well, will the blower motor to blow at max. I've got a few more thing to wire before I go for an energized test. That is with the battery in the car.

I wish I could take some readings off of mine for ya but my battery is out and all my front of engine components are off the car awaiting the serpentine belt set-up that should be here on Monday. I am stuck at a lull right now waiting on the serp set-up. I have to move some wiring around since my alternator and AC compressor switch sides. I am going to put it on and move some wiring around and finish up my install. Can't wait to crank it to see if it will actually work or not ha ha.
