one headlight won't pop up???

I have an 83 Trans Am. the headlight comes on but will not flip up. the right headlight works perfectly.if I crank the left headlight up by hand and then shut the headlights off it will go down.anyone have any ideas on this one?? I do have an assortment of relays that I did try swapping out with the old relay but to no avail. these relays of course are from various parts cars so I may just not have the correct one, but any help is def appreciated!!

I have the same problem and am trying to find the solution. I did just read a post titled: "Another headlight question" where a guy from Top Down Solutions said it was a problem with the module.

It won't be a Headlight Control Module on a 1982-86 Firebird (aka three-wire headlight motor). The headlight control module is used on the 1987-92 Firebirds with the two-wire headlight motors. A word of advise; 80% of the recommendations on how to cure a 87-92 headlight actuator won't apply to your 1982-86 headlight motor. They are COMPLETELY different systems.

1982-86 Headlight Diagnostics: (from the 4-page headlight diagnostics sheet that I include with my 508210 Brass Headlight Gear & Bumper Kit)

Both Doors won't close:
Blown tailight fuse
Bad isolation relay
Bad connection or ground

One door won't close:
Bad actuator relay
Bad isolation relay
Bad connection or ground
Faulty actuator motor limit switch
Bad actuator motor

Both doors won't open:
Blown main fuse link to headlight switch
Bad isolation relay
Bad connection or ground

One door won't open:
Bad actuator relay
Blown actuator relay fuseable link
Bad connection or ground
Faulty actuator motor limit switch
Bad actuator motor
